I am a registered member of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) registration number: ZA450940. I take my clients’ privacy seriously. What is discussed with clients will be treated as confidential and only shared with third parties in the following circumstances in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018:
a). Clinical supervision where the purpose of breaking confidentiality is to maintain better clinical practice in accordance with the requirements of the BACP Ethical Guidelines and Good Practice. I only use client’s initials during clinical supervision and no unnecessary identifiable personal details will be shared;
b). Exceptional circumstances where ordered by a court of law;
c). Where a client’s safety or the safety of others is judged to be in danger as required by law, this includes safeguarding concerns regarding children or vulnerable adults; in this situation such data collected at the initial assessment stage will be used to contact third parties such as GP, Ambulance, Police, and Protection Services as appropriate which is a legal requirement;
d). Where clients give their written consent for information to be shared with a named third party.
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018 I will keep anonymised brief bullet-point notes on client work. These will be securely kept and will be shredded or deleted 6 years after my last session with a client. Further to this all sessional notes will be kept confidentially and safely in a lockable cabinet and/or on a password protected computer which will also be kept in a lockable cabinet. The purpose of recording personal data at the initial assessment stage is for assisting the therapeutic work e.g. to confirm session time and provide helpful documentation via email, text or post. Any client data collected (e.g. contact details including email addresses) will not be passed onto third parties for promotional purposes and will only be used for the core purpose of treatment.
Enquires submitted through my website contact form are sent directly to me by email and then deleted from my website provider’s systems. They are retained only until my website provider is confident they have been successfully delivered.
