I am currently studying advanced year in Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) and attend ongoing continuous professional development training courses as a part of my clinical development. I also have a growing interest in trauma work and will be looking towards further development in this field. I adhere to BACP Ethical Framework through the attendance of regular clinical supervision to promote good practice.
I have worked at various clinical settings including the NHS and within community-based settings including working with Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) clients. I have extensive experience of working in the addition field where I ran a community based counselling service. I have front line experience of working with women and girls affected by domestic and sexual violence within various charity settings. In addition I have many years’ experience of setting up and facilitating therapeutic based group work.
I work integratively and creatively using existing traditional theoretical frameworks identified under psychodynamic, humanistic, and behavioural schools of thought. In addition, I also offer block therapy using Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) framework, suitability is determined through a 90 minutes trial session. Each person and individual session is unique, so how I work is determined by what difficulties are being experienced at that time and the outcome hoped for. My approach focuses on the interaction between the two people in the therapy room. Research consistently shows it is the client/therapist relationship which is all important, more than the approach used.
